From Both Sides of the Pulpit
A Disconnect in Congregational Singing
I don’t have an axe to grind but a connection to make in congregational singing that deals with both sides of the pulpit. Over the years, my panoramic view of congregational singing anywhere and everywhere has varied. Churches aren’t uniform or consistent in how well their congregations sing. Generally speaking, though, I’ve noted a decline in congregational singing from good to abysmal. I believe congregations ought to participate in all parts of the worship service from the kickoff to the final tick of the clock.
