BRENTWOOD — These are days filled with great opportunity for, as well as challenges to, Great Commission work in Tennessee. I am thankful for the privilege of working with you as we work together to reach our state and world with the gospel.
As I attempt to serve the Tennessee Baptist Convention as executive director, I need your help in a simple, practical way. It is vitally important to assess the scope of the work needed in our communities, plan our strategy for accomplishing our mission and then celebrate and give God the praise for helping us to reach our communities for His glory.
Currently, our best tool to gather this important information is the Annual Church Profile (ACP). By now each church should have received this packet of materials from their association office. Won’t you please make certain that your church is participating in this effort? Only then can we focus our efforts in the right direction to serve our Lord even more effectively. And, it is with the combined records from churches all over the state that I and our staff can best evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your Tennessee Baptist Convention.
Last year we saw an increase over the previous year in the number of churches that returned their ACP forms. Thank you for that. But, with 78 percent of our churches reporting statewide, we still have room for improvement. This is where you and your influence is needed.
Your local association should have provided you with the due date for these forms to be returned to them. If you have any questions about the date or on how to complete these forms, contact your local association office or call our office at 800-558-2090 and ask for Libby Eaton. She will be happy to help you however she can.
It is a joy to be on this journey with you.
