BRENTWOOD — Cooperative Program giving from Tennessee Baptist Convention churches dipped in March.

TBC churches gave a total of $2,250,023 through the CP giving channel last month. The amount was $323,652 below what was given in February.

For the year-to-date, Tennessee Baptists have given $13,849,856 through the Cooperative Program.

After five months of the 2013-14 fiscal year, the amount is $430,889 or 3.0 percent below what was given at the same point last year.

The total also is $1,358,477 or 8.93 percent below budgeted needs.

“We are always very appreciative for every church that gives to Great Commission work through the Cooperative Program, the world’s most effective missions mutual fund,” said Randy C. Davis, executive director/treasurer of the Tennessee Baptist Convention.

“However, we are currently more than eight percent behind 2014 budget projections. Translation: Fewer people within our state and around our world are hearing about the saving grace of Jesus because the financial support our missionaries need to continue their work is greatly reduced.

“Tennessee Baptists have always rallied in times of crisis, and there is no greater crisis than the need to reach the eight out of ten unchurched people currently living in each of our communities. We sincerely believe Tennessee Baptists will financially rally to partner with us in this present challenge.”
