Things Every DOM Ought to Know About Revitalization—Tom Cheyney (DOMs Only Breakout)
In this breakout for all Directors of Missions we will discuss the key things every Director of Missions ought to know about Church Revitalization and Renewal. Those in attendance will receive a CD of introductory resources to help them begin to work with churches in their association in need of revitalization. This breakout is focused on a few introductory ideas and the second half will focus on Q&A as the presenter responds to individual questions.
Reclaiming Inactive Church Members –Tom Cheyney
This breakout is an introductory discussion of the issue of inactive church members and points participants toward attending the full day training offered by the Renovate Group. A commonly observed problem within the local church is the inactive and disconnected member. For years, churches have become accustomed to maintaining what is often referred to as an inactive or non-resident membership role. It has been said that of the stated membership of churches and denominations, half cannot be found. While that might be a bit of an overstatement, there are a significant number of members who have become inactive. This is a brief overview of the R.E.C.L.A.I.M. Strategy from Renovate National Church Revitalization Conference.
Spiritual Mechanics—Terry Rials (offered twice)
The default tendency of many church leaders is to do certain activities associated with church growth, following the successful patterns of other leaders. However, there is another side of Church Revitalization that needs exploration. The Spiritual Mechanics of revitalization delves into topics that the church has avoided for far too long. These topics are at the heart of the problem, the cause of many churches’ decline.
Assessing Your Church’s Readiness to Change—Terry Rials
This Breakout is designed to help church leaders discover and understand where their churches are in their natural life cycles. Then, using the biblical pattern of Nehemiah, we will discover how to research and assess your church’s situation in order to develop a dynamic, strategic plan to address your church’s circumstances. An invaluable resource, The Change Readiness Assessment, will be introduced, demonstrated, and provided at no cost to the participants. This instrument helps church leaders to understand their church’s readiness and willingness to change.
