My Aunt Christa had been going down a scary path of addiction and destruction. I knew that she needed Jesus and that he was the only one who could help her break her addictions. While I had been praying this for several years, I guess you could say I never had that much faith in my prayers or in God. I would voice a prayer to God and never really expect that he could actually answer it.
One night after my Bible study had ended, my aunt came to my mind again while I was driving back home to Murfreesboro. As I do some of my best praying aloud, the car is a wonderful place to make my prayer closest. However, that I night I decided that I needed to truly trust and believe that not only could God break my aunt’s addictions and bring her to him, but that he would do this. I began to pray with all my heart and strength for my aunt’s salvation and I trusted that that very night she would come to know Jesus. I told God that I wasn’t only hoping for this to happen, but that I believed and knew it would happen because God promised in Matthew 17:20 that if we have faith as small as a mustard seed then we can move mountains. I chose to claim that promise and I told God was anxious with anticipation for what he would do in my aunt’s life that very night.
The following day I received a phone call from my dad. With great excitement he told me that my Aunt Christa had gone to see my teenage cousins in their home church’s annual Judgment House. At the end of the night, she gave her life to Christ! But God didn’t stop there! We had thought that my grandfather was a Christian, however he had never made this decision. That same night, he too went to Judgment House and accepted Christ! We serve an incredible God who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, praise Jesus! Today, my aunt has given up drugs and now has a steady job as a nurse. God has done an amazing thing in her life and is continuing to transform her daily. To Him be all the glory!
