In an effort to move more financial resources to ministries and initiatives that directly impact the harvest of lost souls, the Tennessee Baptist Executive Board Ministry has taken a long look at all the programs and ministries we have been involved with through the years. While all these activities are fruitful and beneficial, the reality is that we can no longer give the needed time, energy, and the necessary financial resources to these ministries, as well as, become more intentional in our endeavor to assist churches with their efforts to reach lost people with the gospel. Change is painful and no decision is without consequences, but we are convinced that God has given us a great opportunity to reach more people than ever before with the good news of Christ.
Please know that these decisions have not been made in a vacuum, but come from 18 months of serious study and deliberation. Our Tennessee Baptist Convention staff has talked with hundreds of pastors, as well as Directors of Missions and ministry leaders across our state. We have conducted surveys to help determine our course as well.
Please know that the decision not to fund the Youth Speakers Tournament does not mean that it cannot continue.
Churches and associations can pick up the torch for Youth Speakers Tournament - continuing it on a smaller -- but no less effective scale. If your church or association would like to continue Youth Speakers tournament, we will be glad to provide you with 2014 Speaker Topics and/or a 2014 Leader's Guide.
Please contact the Youth Ministry Office at 800.558.2090 ext. 7906 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We stand ready to assist in any way we can in helping these activities continue on a local level.
