Children's State Bible Drill: Accommodations for Special Needs

At TBC, it is our desire for every child to have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from Children’s Bible Drill in a way that recognizes their uniqueness as a child of God. It is our prayer that every participant will experience the personal fulfillment and transformation that comes from memorizing scripture and learning more about the Bible. To enhance the effectiveness of Tennessee Baptist Children’s Bible Drill, we offer the following accommodation guidelines for the 2013-2014 State Bible Drills.

  • Special needs may arise close to the state drill date that require an “emergency” accommodation for things such as a broken arm or accidental injury. Please contact us at the earliest possible date with these last minute special needs for the 2013-2014 State Regional Children’s Bible Drills. This will allow us to be better prepared for your children.

  • Exciting News!!!! For those needing other (non-emergency), special accommodations, we will offer a 2013-2014 State Special Needs Children’s Bible Drill. Students will advance from the church drill directly to the State Special Needs Children’s Bible Drill.

  • Children will have the opportunity to participate in the 2013-2014 State Regional Children’s Bible Drill or the 2013-2014 State Special Needs Children’s Bible Drill. Participants will follow guidelines established for the drill they have chosen.

Please notify your regional coordinator at the beginning of your Bible Drill year of any children who will have special needs or exceptions that need to be granted. This will allow us to work in advance with that child, your church and the judges in a way that will best meet the needs of that individual through the structure of Bible Drill. Special Needs could include such things as learning disabilities, hearing impairment or deafness, vision impairment or blindness, physical disabilities, etc.

Please send an email to your regional coordinator, stating the following:

  • Child’s name

  • Church name, location and region

  • Leader’s name and contact information

  • Nature of their special need and accommodations needed. Feel free to share any other information that might be helpful in working with the student. Even if you have participated in Bible Drill, or if you have talked with someone at TBC previously, you still need to send this information so that we will have an accurate record for the State Drills. The deadline to submit this information will be January 31, 2014. We would hope to receive this earlier so that individualized plans can be developed.

We are so excited that all children will have the opportunity to experience the Bible in the way they learn with a customized plan for their individual needs!
