WMU Scholarship Information

Tennessee WMU awards approximately 20 to 30 scholarships annually to Tennessee Baptists. Scholarships are granted to students who will be attending school full time or taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester; who meet various qualifications and are involved in missions and ministry. All scholarship funding is provided by gifts through the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions as well as various endowed funds.

The Tennessee WMU scholarship for 2010-2011 has passed. Applications  for 2011-2012 will be available in the fall.

Scholarships

Myrtle Creasman Scholarship at King’s Academy

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be applying to enter or a current student at King’s Academy.
  • Be a member of and active participant in a Tennessee Baptist church.
  • Maintain minimum grade average of 2.6 out of 4 points or its equivalent.
  • Show evidence of financial need.
  • In keeping with the purpose, applicant must show evidence of participation in Tennessee Baptist missions programs and Tennessee Baptist missions/ministry.


Acteens Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a member of and active participant in a Tennessee Baptist church.
  • Be attending school full time or taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Have a grade average of 2.6 out of 4 points or its equivalent.
  • In keeping with the purpose, applicant must show evidence of participation in Tennessee Baptist missions programs, Tennessee Baptist missions / ministry.

Must have participated in Acteens through two of the following four ways:

  • Participation in local ministry for at least 2 years.
  • Completion of at least 2 levels of MissionsQuest or an approved individual achievement plan.
  • Selection as a State or National Acteens Advisory Panelist or Top Teen.
  • Participation on 2 Acteens Activator Teams.

NOTE: All applicants applying for the Acteens Scholarship will also be included as applicants for the Myrtle Creasman / Mary Northington / General Tennessee WMU Scholarship. Completing a separate application for the Myrtle Creasman / Mary Northington / General Tennessee WMU Scholarship is NOT necessary.



Myrtle Creasman / Mary Northington / General Tennessee WMU Scholarships for undergraduate degrees

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a member of and active participant in a Tennessee Baptist church.
  • Be attending school full time or taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Maintain minimum grade average of 2.6 out of 4 points or its equivalent.
  • Show evidence of financial need.
  • In keeping with the purpose, applicant must show evidence of participation in Tennessee Baptist missions programs, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Tennessee Baptist missions / ministry.


Katharine C. Bryan Graduate Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Be a returning female graduate student or applying to enter a graduate degree program.
  • Be attending school full time or taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Be a member of a TN Baptist church or have TN Baptist ties.
  • Have a GPA of 2.6 or higher on last transcript.
  • Maintain a 3.5 GPA to re-apply.
  • Be active in missions / ministries in local church.


Tennessee WMU Seminary Scholarship

To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Must be pursuing a career in missions or Woman’s Missionary Union.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in a Southern Baptist church and its missions / ministries.
  • Be attending school full time or taking the equivalent of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Show evidence of Tennessee Baptist ties.
  • Show evidence of financial need.
  • Maintain minimum grade average of 2.6 out of 4 points (or its equivalent).
  • In keeping with the purpose, applicant must show evidence of participation in Tennessee Baptist missions programs, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, Tennessee Baptist missions/ministry, and active missions involvement while attending seminary.


Tennessee WMU Amanda Day CWJC Scholarship
To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Applicant must apply to a community college, vocational school or other accredited educational institution.
  • Participant must have been involved in a certified CWJC program for a minimum of 1 year to include Bible Study and mentoring.
  • Required: financial need and GED or high school diploma.
  • Applicant will need to re-apply each year.


Tennessee WMU Creely Wilson CMJC Scholarship
To apply for this scholarship, the applicant must:

  • Applicant must apply to a community college, vocational school or other accredited educational institution.
  • Participant must have been involved in a certified CMJC program for a minimum of 1 year to include Bible Study and mentoring.
  • Required: financial need and GED or high school diploma.
  • Applicant will need to re-apply each year.
