TBMB Staff Positions Available:

Communications Specialist – Woman’s Missionary Union

Primary Function:  To develop and implement a communication strategy for the WMU team to promote missions awareness and involvement opportunities to Tennessee Baptist churches.  To coordinate the development and production of promotion materials for state missions and the Golden Offering for Tennessee Missions.  To participate in the Harvest Field Ministry and contribute to completion of the Objectives of Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:  Four-year college degree

Experience:  Three to seven years related experience

  • Possess knowledge of WMU in the church
  • Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; communicate effectively one-on-one as well as with small and large groups
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and multi-tasking
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Physical Requirements:

Continuously communicates by phone, computer and in person.  Frequently stands, sits at desk and works irregular hours.  Frequently lifts and carries up to 10 pounds, occasionally lifts and carries up to 50 pounds.  Able to drive and travel long distances as well as stay in public lodging.

 

Missions Discipleship Specialist – Woman’s Missionary Union

Primary Function: To strengthen and expand missions education and involvement for preschoolers, children, students and adults in Tennessee Baptist Churches.  To develop a team of volunteer missions advocates to work with churches across the state.  To participate in the Harvest Field Ministry and contribute to completion of the Objectives of Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:  Four+ years of college

Experience:  Three to seven years related experience

  • Knowledge of the history, structure and resources of WMU and the Biblical basis of missions
  • Proven leadership in enlisting, developing, mobilizing and leading professional staff and volunteers with expertise to enhance missions discipleship in churches and associations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; communicate effectively one-on-one as well as with small and large groups.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Physical Requirements:

Ministry Assistant – Executive Leadership Group

Primary Function: Provide administrative support to the President/Executive Director-Treasurer and Executive Assistant in carrying out the function of the Executive Leadership Group. Provide administrative assistance to other groups approximately 50% of time as directed by supervisors. Contribute in all phases of responsibilities to the Mission and Objectives of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma with college or vocational/technical school

Experience: One to three years or more administrative experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Have a working knowledge of the organization and polity of the Southern Baptist Convention
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements: Physically able to sit at a desk for an extended period of each day, answer telephone handset, utilize computer keyboard and mouse, and verbally communicate with co-workers and guests in work area. Physically move from desk to central work areas for copies, supplies, files and other materials, and able to participate in a variety of staff and other types of meetings. Occasional bending, standing or stooping. Occasionally lifts and carries up to 35 pounds.
