Beth Moore, Compassion Ministry Specialist at the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, recently shared updates on the ministry’s ongoing work across our state. Several exciting developments are taking shape as we move into the summer months.

Pregnancy Center Support Grows

This past year, the ministry has successfully funded three pregnancy center ultrasound devices through the Golden Opportunity initiative. These critical pieces of equipment provide life-saving support to mothers and families facing difficult decisions, strengthening the pro-life ministry network throughout Tennessee.

Christmas Backpack Ministry Launches

The annual Christmas backpack ministry is gaining momentum as we approach the holiday season. Churches across Tennessee are already making commitments to donate backpacks filled with Christmas gifts for children in need. The ministry has received applications from organizations ready to distribute these resources to families in their communities.

Churches interested in participating can get involved by visiting tnbaptist.org/backpack for detailed information on how to contribute to this vital Christmas outreach.

Restorative Justice Ministry Flourishes

The Lord continues to work powerfully through restorative justice efforts, particularly in juvenile justice programs. Dale Lusk’s ministry in the Jefferson County area of East Tennessee exemplifies this impact, demonstrating how churches can effectively minister to young people in the justice system. His work will be featured in an upcoming ministry video highlighting these transformative efforts.

Adoption Support Expands

The Tennessee Baptist Mission Board is preparing to launch the Amy Hood application for adoption grants, which will provide financial assistance to families pursuing adoption. This new initiative is expected to go live soon, offering another avenue of support for families building through adoption.

Foster Care Initiative in Development

While still in the planning stages, the compassion ministry is developing a foster care initiative set to launch this fall. This new program will expand the board’s support for vulnerable children and families throughout Tennessee.

These ongoing efforts reflect the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board’s commitment to serving “the least of these” across our state. In Other News

As of Friday, May 30th, the Golden Offering is over the $2.3 million mark. Although we are shy of our goal, we are still in record-setting territory.

The Golden Offering for Tennessee missions is having a direct impact right now as disaster relief teams are mobilized, not only in Tennessee, but in surrounding states to help with tornado recovery.
